This is a cover design entry for a competition run by the book publisher Penguin. The cover is for the novel Perfume by Patrick Süskind which deals with themes such as temptation, seduction, smells and death. I wanted to produce a very minimal image for the cover that touched upon the key themes of the novel. The rolling hills are meant to represent the victims killed in the novel using their hair as an iconic representation. The rose placed on top not only represents the theme of smell but also signifies the victims innocence as well as the novels protagonist Grenouille.
